A vertical solar telescope feeds a white-light image of the Sun into the undergraduate astronomy laboratory. The coelestat mirror system on the roof of the building above the lab classroom tracks the daily motion of the Sun and directs light downward into the telescope.
The solar
telescopes at the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium allow
public viewing of sunspots and solar prominences on clear days.
