Information for Prospective Students
People
- We have 17 full-time faculty, all holding Ph.D.'s and active in research. We also have a number of active emeritus faculty, visiting scholars, and adjunct faculty.
- We typically have 15-25 graduate students working on their advanced degrees in physics. Most are supported as teachings assistants or research assisstants.
- We have over 60 undergradraduate majors in physics and many students pursuing minors in physics.
- Faculty, staff, and students develop a strong sense of community through numerous activities such as biweekly teas, departmental fitness walks, weekly sports activiites, picnics, and public lectures.

- BS/MS accelerated (5 year) degree in Physics and Astronomy

- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics and Astronomy
- Other PhD options are available via cooperative programs in Chemical Physics, Applied Mathematics and the
University of Kentucky.
Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA), Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) or Fellowships are available to support most students.
