Squeezing the Higgs

Dr. Heidi Schellman

: Scientists at Fermilab have been closing in on the standard model Higgs boson. In the standard model of particle physics, the Higgs boson affects the mass of the W and Z bosons. New precision measurements of the W mass indicate that the Standard model Higgs (if it exists) is light - light enough to be caught in a direct search over the mass range from 114-180 GeV. I will present recent results from the D0 experiment on the W mass and the ongoing hunt for the Higgs.
