MORTAR BOARD'S
UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE ACADEMIC HALL OF FAME:
           WINNERS OF NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS/FELLOWSHIPS

assembled and maintained by the Pallas Chapter of Mortar Board

This page is intended by the Pallas Chapter of Mortar Board to honor top students and faculty at the
University of Louisville who have won national or international awards.  Our first efforts are concentrating
on awards which support at least six  months of  research and/or teaching.  Winners of such awards are
selected by national or international panels.  Students  achieving these honors exemplify academic excellence
both for themselves and for their university.  This page
is a work in progress, and we therefore welcome corrections, suggestions and additions (see below).
We currently honor awardees for the following:

Boren Scholarships for the study of languages, geographical areas and fields of study critical to US national security; winners commit to 1 year with the federal government
Chateaubriand Fellowships for doctoral research in France
Fulbright Fellowships for research and teaching abroad for both post-graduate students and faculty
Goldwater Scholarships for undergraduate study in science, mathematics and engineering; a university is only allowed 4 nominations per year
Jonas Scholarships for graduate research in nursing
NSF Graduate Fellowships, NASA Space Science Fellowships
NSF CAREER Awards (for faculty)
Rhodes, Marshall and Gates Scholarships for post-graduate study in the United Kingdom
Truman Scholarships for post-graduate study related to public policy; a university is only allowed 4 nominations per year
Udall Scholarships for leadership, public service and commitment to issues related to American Indian nations or the environment

Good students and faculty are not restricted to winners of the above scholarships and fellowships.  We have chosen the above
competitions as the first ones to track given our resources, and will consider and/or attempt to include other awards on
these lists as out resources permit.  These include scholarships and fellowships won by our undergraduates, graduate students, faculty
and alumni, such as
Cambridge International
Cooke Graduate

Humboldt Fellowships
