minutes of meeting Tue 2 Sep 2008, 6:30pm, Ekstrom W210 attendance: Roger Dotsey, Casey Larue, An Nguyen, Mike Oghia, Phil Stoller We had our first meeting of the semester this evening, and though turnout was low, the meeting itself was successful. I made the mistake of scheduling a meeting before consulting members. In order to rectify this, attached to this email is a blank schedule. I want everyone to fill it in, stating what times will work for you. Send this schedule to Phil Stoller at pstoll_04@fuse.net by THIS THURSDAY. You will be notified of future meeting times shortly after. MEETING MINUTES: We have some officer positions still available, including calendar/ad sales chair, flower sales chair and social chair. If interested, let me know. We are planning a social for later in the month. Preliminary date is Friday, the 19th around 5ish. It is going to be a cookout, and a great chance to get to know one another. Casey is in the process of ordering T-shirts! She will send out more info on that. We are in the process of putting together service events for the semester. We are going to have four this semester, but members are required to attend TWO of them. One is coming up on September 13th, and there will be one in early October. An will be sending out more info on those. We are going to be putting together an alumni event during the month of October. If anyone has any ideas and/or connections to restaurants, etc., bring them up. As a jump start for recruitment, we are going to get every RSO to nominate a Junior for the Mortar Board Outstanding Junior Award, in which the recipients will recieve a free MB calendar. This event will get our name out there, will give us names of possible future members, and will introduce those who don't know about it to our calendar. Finally, to graduate in good standing with Mortar Board, you have to meet the minimum requirements of attending 2/3 of the meetings and 2 community service events a semester. Don't forget! Thanks, everyone. Hope your semesters have started off well! Roger
