meeting 5 Mar 2009 4-5pm Ekstrom 409 present: Roger Dotsey, Jay Spenlau, Mike Oghia, Gerry Williger regrets: Joel Graham, Casey LaRue, Phil Stoller, Dave Kitchel (all class conflicts) APPLICATIONS: reference letters can be accepted late (probably Monday after Spring break), but the rest of the application materials should be in on time Rudy - has application forms done will put something out on SGA e-mail - needs a couple of days' notice other suggestions to spread the word: 1) have members invite five people each to apply 2) use RSO listserve How many members are active given our attendance rules? 10-12 Tapping: we should do it. Graduating seniors should have gowns already; at least, so they should be able to tap in a gown. They should wear a Mortar Board t-shirt if can't use gown for tapping. Gerry can get people's schedules for tapping from the Registrar's office. Roger - will get application from Rudy, send it to Joel, put it out on listserves. Goal: Get first notice out by Friday, March 6. Applications can be either electronic or on paper Put down that for further questions about applications, contact Roger or Rudy. Roger: ask current members CALENDARS: Christi Metzger, First Year Initiatives Director - wants to get planners in hands of all freshmen BUT, they shouldn't have to pay for it. She's willing to pay slightly above cost for it. It's a guaranteed market. Mike: What about Gray's? Can we team up with them? Gerry: We should have a firm agreement with Christi Metzger before we start talking with Gray's or other companies about a collaboration. FLOWERS FOR GRADUATION: Idea for new company - taking credit cards is a good thing. Gerry will forward the e-mail. Joe Davilo (Commencement) asked Roger D. whether we'd commit to coming every semester. They like the security of having the commitment. Casey LaRue: Our contract is through spring 2010. We can't change companies this year, but can revisit the issue.
