Driving directions to the UL Dept. of Physics & Astronomy From the East or Northeast (Lexington or Cincinnati): 1) Take I-64 west or I-71 South to I-264 west. Then take I-65 north to Eastern Parkway, westbound (2nd Eastern Parkway exit, 133B). 2) You'll have to make three right turns to get onto Eastern Parkway/US60-ALT -- follow the signs carefully. That means 3) right from the exit (the only way you can go) 4) right onto Crittenden 5) right onto Eastern Parkway/US60 Take Eastern Parkway for 200m to its end at South Third Street (traffic light). Turn right. Turn right at the entrance to U. Louisville (about 120m after the light). It's a circular drive. Follow the drive to the parking kiosk and identify yourself. You will be let in. The Natural Sciences Building is a brick building ON Eastern Parkway. It has 3 stories and has 3 wings. You should see it from the parking lot. From the South (Bowling Green or Nashville): 1) Take I-65 north, past the two beltways I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and I-264 (Watterson Expressway) to the second Eastern Parkway exit 133B, which is westbound. Then follow directions from step 2 from the East. From the North (Bloomington or Indianapolis): 1) Take I-65 south to Exit 133 (I have to check if there is an A or B), which is after downtown and which is Eastern Parkway (westbound). You'll be on a long exit ramp, then get to a traffic signal at East Warnock Street. Go STRAIGHT but keep to the RIGHT. (Going left gets you onto I-65 south again!) There will be an entrance ramp (with a yield sign) to the right for Eastern Parkway, westbound. Then follow directions from step 5 from the East. From the West (Evansville or St. Louis): 1) Take I-64 east, cross the Ohio River then immediately take the "inner beltway" I-264 east. Get off at I-65 northbound (toward Louisville). Then follow directions from step 2 from the East. (This avoids downtown.) If you are looking for a location on maps.google.com or mapquest, look for the junction of Eastern Parkway and South Third Street. The Natural Sciences Building is on the north side of Eastern Parkway, about 200m east of the junction, beside a traffic light and crosswalk. From a satellite image viewed with north up, the Natural Sciences Building looks like an upside down "T". My office is #206 in the Natural Sciences Building, and my phone number is 502/852-0821. The dept. office is #102. The secretary's name is Mary Gayle Wrocklage, and her number is 502/852-6790. She'll have your parking pass which you'll need to display on your car. A fake "street address" for our building is 349 Eastern Parkway, Louisville KY 40292. It is only good for Google maps etc. The USPS won't recognize it. Federal Express and DHL don't recognize the UL campus 40292 zip code. It's part of a long dispute perhaps stemming from UPS' domination of Louisville as a hub. So, for those two delivery companies, use 40208.
