1. A beam of electrons is used to bombard gaseous hydrogen. What is the minimum energy in electron volts the electrons must have if the second line of the Paschen series, corresponding to the transition from the n = 5 state to the n = 3 state, is to be emitted ?  Calculate the wavelength of the photon emitted during this transition.
