I cheated in Elementary Astronomy 107-02 because I was super stressed
out from a variety of things. Those things were my grandmother was
having a variety of health problems and the end of peak season of UPS
where I work 3rd shift. I cheated using a friend and we would get
lunch all the time, do our homework together, and check each other's
answers. I knew that this was wrong, but I started to fall behind in
school and I didn't want to get so far behind and not be able to catch
up so I asked him for help and he did. Eventually we got caught as
everybody does but Professor (Dr) Williger was very friendly about
everything and worked with me to find a good time to meet and talk
about the whole situation. The punishment is as follows: a formal
letter was written to Dr. Fuselier, Assoc. Dean of Undergraduate
Education to determine the best course of action for the situation,
the letter also goes into an official file [and failure in the
class]. Along with that I am writing this letter explaining my actions
and what the consequences are. I hope in the future this doesn't
happen again because it takes just as much effort to cheat as it does
to just do the work, as well as you can get in trouble/fail classes/
get expelled for it.
